Joseph Henry Willis

Joseph Henry Willis, age 89, of Newburgh, IN, passed away Sunday, September 8, 2024, at the Village at Hamilton Pointe.

Joe was born November 29, 1934, in Petersburg, IN, to Walter and Meredith (Robling) Willis. He graduated from Petersburgh High School and worked for Industrial Contractors, Inc. for 40 years before retiring. He was a long-time member of American Baptist East, now known as Embrace Church. Joe enjoyed being his friends' and family’s handyman who was always available when a need would arise. Joe enjoyed boating and fishing, and he especially loved spending time with his family and friends down at his property at Barkley Lake.

Joe is survived by his daughter, Gayle Shafer (Tony); grandchildren, Brent Shafer (Melissa) and Scott Shafer (Rachel); great grandchildren, Grace Barnett, Caleb Shafer, Clara Shafer, and Henry Shafer; and many nieces and nephews.

Joe is preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Meredith Willis; beloved wife of 67 years, Carmon “Kay” Willis, who passed away November of 2023; son, K. Wayne Willis; sisters, Inez Hill, Bertha Inman, and Mary Graham; and brothers, Robert Willis, Edward Willis, and Eugene Willis.

Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Thursday, September 12, 2024, at Boone Funeral Home East Chapel – A Family Tradition Funeral Home, 5330 Washington Avenue, Evansville, IN, with Pastor Joe Hammond officiating. Burial will be in Park Lawn Cemetery.

Friends may visit from 10:00 a.m. until service time, Thursday, September 12, 2024, at Boone Funeral Home East Chapel.
