Joyce Ann (Cusic) Baker, age 70, of Evansville, IN, passed away Thursday, July 11, 2024, at Envive Healthcare of Evansville.
Joyce was born September 3, 1953, in Evansville, IN, to William and Jeannette A. (Schaefer) Cusic (d. 1956). In 1960, William remarried, and Mary (Smith) Cusic raised Joyce as her own daughter. She graduated from Bosse High School in 1971 and earned her Associate’s Degree in Administrative Office Technology from Ivy Tech. Joyce was a past member of New Life Ministries where she faithfully attended. She worked at Loge News for 8 years, Sears for 9 years, and Leo Butram Accounting for over 10 years before retiring.
Joyce enjoyed shopping, painting, and making crafts. Most recently, she loved diamond painting – creating key chains, canvases, and even purses. She loved animals and owned many pets through the years. Joyce was a member of a Bunco group where she enjoyed friendship and competition for many years. She also ran the Bingo every Sunday at Bell Oaks Place in Newburgh for several years, even serving as their first Resident President. Previously, she filled in for the Activity Coordinator when necessary, at Market Street Living, running Bingo on those certain weekends.
Joyce was a God-fearing woman who was very devoted to her faith. She had the biggest heart and was a very giving person, always wanting to help others however she could.
Joyce is survived by her loving daughter and caregiver, Lee Ann Baker; brother, William “Bill” Cusic (Carol); sister-in-law, Marjorie Powers (Clayton); grandchildren, Aundreya Hamilton, Mason Baker, Jasmine Jackson, and Jordan Jackson; great grandchildren, Drasen, Harlem, Ryan Jr., Rylan, Ace, Kayden, La’Niya, Raelynn, Kyrie, and expecting another great grandchild; daughter, Melissa Baker; and several nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews.
