Kevin Aker Obituary

Kevin Wesley Aker, 68, of Newburgh, IN, passed away unexpectedly in Warrick County on Thursday December 12th, 2024.

Kevin was born in Mt. Carmel, IL on May 20th, 1956, to Wesley and Lola (Apple) Aker, and was raised in Grayville, IL with his two sisters Karen and Nancy, where he graduated from Grayville High School. After High School Kevin began working for Marion Blackford, where he built his foundation for electronics repair and IT systems. Kevin would go on to work for Peoples National Bank in Grayville, IL until a merger that brought him to Evansville. In Evansville, Kevin began his career with National City Bank, which later became Integra Bank, as an IT specialist and after 31 years, several temporary job changes, would retire from Old National Bank as an Assistant Vice President, Sr. IBMi Engineer.

Kevin was a devoted volunteer to the Boy Scouts of American through the Buffalo Trace Council for over 20 years. Kevin was also an ambassador for the Philmont Scout Ranch, located in Cimmaron, NM, where he visited several times in various leadership roles.

Kevin greatly enjoyed hiking and camping throughout his scouting career and with his family. During his retirement when not babysitting his grandkids or watching them at sporting events he was often selflessly lending a hand to help his family and friends with various projects or repairs whenever they needed help. His presence in all the lives he has touched will greatly be missed.

Kevin is survived by his wife of 32 years Diane (Young) Aker, three children: Krystal Whitsell (Scott), Kody Conrad, and Brian Aker (Stefanie), 5 grandchildren Kenzie, Nathan, Brooklyn, Sawyer, and Wesley, sister Nancy Green, and many more family members and friends. Kevin was preceded in death by his parents Wesley and Lola, sister Karen Aker, brother-in-law Gerry Green, and other beloved family members.
