LaWanda J. "Jeannie" (Hazelwood) Hawkins

LaWanda Jean “Jeannie” (Hazelwood) Hawkins, age 55, of Evansville, IN, was called home to glory on Thursday, November 19, 2020, at Deaconess Hospital surrounded by her loving family.

Jeannie was born May 16, 1965, in Evansville, IN, to William Edward Hazelwood, Sr. and Martha N. (Lester) Hazelwood. She graduated from North High School in 1983 and later graduated from IVY Tech with an Associate’s degree in Accounting. Jeannie was a team leader at Toyota Motor Manufacturing. She was a member the Order of the Eastern Star #17, Heroines of Jericho (Lily of the Valley #6) and Vice president of Akin Park Neighborhood Association. Jeannie was a longtime member of Memorial Baptist Church.

Jeannie is survived by her mother, Martha; life partner, John Hawkins; sons, Johnte’ Hawkins, Justin Hawkins and Jarrod Hawkins; step-daughter, DeAndria Hawkins Powell; sisters, Betty Goodloe (Robert), Cheryl Ricketts (Mike), Marcia Morton (Leroy), Diane Adams (Steve) and Lisa Vaughn (Bobby); brothers, William Hazelwood, Jr. (Paula), Tony Hazelwood and Jeffry Hazelwood.

Jeannie is preceded in death by her father, William Edward Hazelwood, Sr.

Homegoing Services will be held at 12:00 p.m., Wednesday, November 25, 2020, at Boone Funeral Home East Chapel – A Family Tradition Funeral Home, 5330 Washington Avenue with Reverend Adrian M. Brooks, Sr. officiating. A Live Stream will be available beginning twenty minutes prior to the service time.
