Larry R. Embry, age 82, of Evansville, IN, passed away Friday, July 3, 2026, at IU Health Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis, IN.
Larry was born November 4, 1943, in Los Angeles, CA, to Glasco and Mary (Short) Embry. He graduated from Reitz High School, where he ran track with his brother. Larry proudly served his country for nine years in the United States Air Force, National Guard, and Navy. He earned an associate degree in Electronics and went on to work for American Electric Power, retiring after 27 years of service. Outside of work, Larry enjoyed spending time with family, golfing, fishing, dancing, and playing on the “Easy Out” baseball team.
Larry is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Karen (Connell) Embry; daughters, Daphne Freudenburg (Scott), Vanessa Wilkison (Jim), and Gabrielle Richards (Simon); sister, Barbara Luedeka; brother, Robert Embry (Deborah); grandchildren, Jay Freudenburg (Nancy), Jacob Wilkison (Beth), Rachel Freudenburg, and Evelyn Wilkison; and great-granddaughter, Paisley Wilkison.
Larry was preceded in death by his parents, Glasco and Mary Embry; and brother, John Embry and sister-in-law Debra.
A Celebration of Life will be held from 1:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 11, 2026, at Boone Funeral Home East Chapel – A Family Tradition Funeral Home, 5330 Washington Avenue. A military walk-through will take place at 4:00 p.m.
