Larry Lee Farmer, age 80, of Evansville, IN, passed away Saturday, May 4, 2024, at River Pointe Health Campus.
Larry was born February 12, 1944, in Evansville, IN, to Delmar “Shorty” and Irene (McKinley) Farmer. He attended Baker Grade School, graduated from the Old Central High School in 1962, and earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting from ISUE. Larry was a Veteran in the United States Army Reserve, and he was proud to be a 4th cousin to President William McKinley.
Larry Farmer, the Entrepreneur and Mentor, created a business from his love of photography, Video Studio, where he was the first videographer of weddings in Evansville. He found his calling as an Appraiser in the late ‘70s and eventually opened his own company, Larry Farmer Appraisal Company, with his son, Ryan, in 1992. His career was only cut short by brain surgery in 2013.
Larry married Cynthia Ann Schlusemeyer in March of ’77, and they loved to travel by land and by sea, beginning in Gatlinburg, TN, and continuing with epic journeys with the Tri-State Corvette Club, covering almost all of the Lower 48. They were long-time attendees of Christian Fellowship Church. Larry built his own home and won the Best Interior/Exterior and Best Kitchen in the Parade of Homes in 1991. He loved margaritas on the rocks, Ben & Jerry’s ice cream, and BBQ.
Larry was a model father who was committed to his family. Even when his career took him to Indianapolis for a time, he came home faithfully every weekend. His grandchildren, who he loved dearly, renamed him “Car Papaw” due to his love of his convertible Corvettes.
Larry is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Cindy Farmer; daughter, Ashley White (Scott); son, Ryan Farmer (Rachael); grandchildren, Hayley White, Madison White, Ronin Farmer, Belle Farmer, Ruby Farmer, Zeke Farmer, and Trenton Murphy; sister-in-law, Debbie Farmer; nieces, Chandra Schanie (Andy), Debra Nelson, and Penny Farmer; and nephew, Matt Farmer.
Larry is preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Dennis Farmer and Noah “Red” Farmer; sister-in-law, Linnie; and nephew, Bruce Farmer.
