Larry “Dale” McGill

Larry “Dale” McGill, age 68, of Evansville, IN passed away peacefully Friday, July 31, 2026, at Ascension St. Vincent Hospital, surrounded by the ones he loved most.

Larry was born July 30, 1958, in Huntingburg, IN, to A.D. and Ruby (Stone) McGill. He was a graduate of  South Spencer High School.  Following high school, he enlisted in the Army where he proudly served his country. Larry was a certified welder until the company moved to Pennsylvania. Larry then became a truck driver for Starnes Trucking for 17 years, now known as MLM Trucking, where he drove his big white truck #236, daily.

He was happiest when he was with his family, be it at home watching ID Discovery or camping and enjoying the outdoors. He loved hunting and fishing and enjoyed working on race cars.  From NASCAR to football, as long as there was something sports related on tv, he was content. Larry enjoyed cooking, but his favorite foods were Coconut Cream Pie and ice cream of any flavor. He spent the last 12 years spoiling his Boxer, Kagan, who was also an avid camper. Larry enjoyed living his life to the fullest but overall, his greatest accomplishment was being the most wonderful Papa to his grandkids.

Larry is survived by his wife of 31 years, Patty McGill; daughter, Amanda “Amy” Bem (David); sons, Curtis Fulkerson (Kimber) and Chris McGill (Anna); nephew, Don Fulkerson (Dana Hajek); sisters, Kim Faulkner and Billy Darnell (Mark); brothers, Danny McGill, Terry McGill (Chris) - Larry's twin, and Jerry McGill; six grandchildren; and multiple nieces and nephews.

Larry is preceded in death by his parents; sister, Michelle Stuard; brother, Kevin Darnell; and sister-in-law, Rhonda Fulkerson-McGill.                      

Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, August 6, 2026, at Boone Funeral Home East Chapel – A Family Tradition Funeral Home, 5330 Washington Avenue with Curtis Fulkerson officiating. Entombment will be in Oak Hill Mausoleum.  

Friends may visit from 3:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, August 5, 2026, at Boone Funeral Home East Chapel.
