Lawrence “Larry” G. Babcock Sr, age 86, of Evansville, Indiana, passed quietly April 26, 2026, at Deaconess Gateway Hospital.
Larry was born October 1, 1939, in Evansville, Indiana to Lorean (Gooch) Babcock and Elbert Babcock. He graduated from Central High School. Larry first served in the Marine Corps and then the Army Reserve and he was deployed to active duty in Desert Storm. He bravely served our country for many years, his highest rank was an E8 Master Sergeant. He later retired from Whirlpool Corporation after 36 years where he was Vice President of Local 808. Larry was an entrepreneur, starting small businesses including Muffler Express with his son and Aztec Vending.
Larry is survived by his loving wife of almost 35 years; Janice Sue (Funk) Babcock, son; Larry Babcock, Jr. (Jaime), daughters; Annette Southwick (Howard) and Diane Freeman (Elvis), stepsons; Bradley and Matthew Prell (Kristal), stepdaughter; Rebecca Hopkins, grandchildren; Francesca, Macrae, Tiffany, and Taylor, 2 great grandchildren, sister; Wanda Collins, and sister-in-law; Sue Babcock.
Larry is preceded in death by his parents; Lorean and Elbert Babcock, sister; Betty Pogue, and brother; Bill Babcock.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 6 p.m., Thursday, April 30, 2026, at Boone Funeral Home East Chapel – A Family Tradition Funeral Home, 5330 Washington Avenue with Pastor Kris Holzmeyer.
Friends may visit from 2 p.m. until 6 p.m., Thursday, April 30, 2026, at Boone Funeral Home East Chapel.
