Linda Kay (Beard) Deckard, age 71, of Evansville, IN, passed away Saturday January 4, 2025, at Linda E. White Hospice House.
Linda was born October 12, 1953, in Knox County, IN, to Donald Edward and Betty (Butke) Beard. She graduated from South Knox High School and earned her Associate’s Degree in Childcare from Ivy Tech Community College. Linda was a member of Calvary Temple. She worked in Salad Prep for Black Buggy Restaurant for 10 years, and she served as an Assistant Leader and Leader with Girl Scouts for 39 years. In her younger years, she enjoyed camping. More recently, Linda enjoyed working in her flower garden and sewing. She especially loved spending time with her family and grandkids.
Linda is survived by her loving husband of 31 years, Danny Paul Deckard; children, Janna Head, Melinda Bradfield, Jenita Bailey (Chad), Michael Bradfield, Justin Deckard (Breanna), and JoLisa Deckard; siblings, Earl Beard (Dixie Bass), Shirley Holland, Judy Whitehead (Larry), Karla Puckett (Tom), and David Beard; 17 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Linda is preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Erica Mae Bradfield, who passed away in 2017; son-in-law, Kelly Burgess; and brother-in-law, Bill Holland.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 11:30 a.m., Thursday, January 9, 2025, at Boone Funeral Home East Chapel – A Family Tradition Funeral Home, 5330 Washington Avenue with Pastor Ken Seher officiating. Burial will be Private in Park Lawn Cemetery.
Friends may visit from 9:00 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. service time, Thursday, January 9, 2025, at Boone Funeral Home East Chapel.
