Lois Ditzer Obituary

Lois Anne (Bazen) Ditzer, 59, of Franklinton, NC, passed away at 12:25 a.m. on Thursday, January 28, 2021, at WakeMed Hospital in Raleigh, NC.

Lois was born in New Bern, NC, and was the daughter of a pastor. She graduated from Charles B. Aycock High School in 1979, where she served in the ROTC. She went on to graduate from Liberty University in Lynchburg, VA, in 1983 with a B.A. in English & Journalism. Lois and Stephen got married in December 1982, just before their final semester. She taught at Liberty Christian School in Durham, NC,  followed by Friendship Christian School in Raleigh, NC until 2002.

Lois loved the Lord and served with the Youth Aflame ministries while she was still in college. After graduation, she was very active in her church. In addition to working in the children’s ministry & with the senior saints for many years, she decorated the church for events, activities, and holidays. Of all the seasons and holidays, Lois’s favorite was Christmas. She loved everything Christmas. In July of 1984, Lois and Stephen started their collection of Snow Village pieces. During the Christmas season over the last several years they would volunteer to help with Operation Christmas Child shoebox packing and shipping.

Lois also loved the outdoors and the mountains and traveled extensively in the US, visiting 46 of the 50 states. She loved to read and do crafts.

Lois is survived by her husband Stephen Ditzer of Franklinton, NC; her eldest son Jesse Ditzer; her youngest son Ethan Ditzer (Hannah) of Burlington, KY; her parents Bobby G. & Vona Bazen of Wake Forest, NC; her brother Robert Bazen of Wilmington, NC; and her grandchildren Charlie & Aria Ditzer.
