Lou Jane (Higgs) Wallis, age 94, of Evansville, IN, passed away Wednesday, May 15, 2024, at Methodist Medical Center in Oak Ridge, TN.
Lou Jane was born February 6, 1930, in McLean County, KY, to John Melvin and Carrie (Henry) Higgs. She was a graduate of McLean County High School in 1948 and was a long-time member of Keck Avenue Baptist Church in Evansville, IN and a past member of South Orlando Baptist Church in Orlando, FL. In her younger years, Lou Jane enjoyed working as a hairdresser inside her home and later outside of her home at several salons. She worked in the production department for Whirlpool before moving to Florida and working in the wardrobe department at Disney World where she was loved by all her coworkers.
Lou Jane enjoyed reading in her down time and making her famous pies and cakes at the request of her coworkers. She loved living in Florida and having her family come down to visit. Many memories were made at her home and at Disney World.
Lou Jane is survived by her son, Ron Murch (Vickie); daughter, Debra Seaton (Roger); daughter-in-law’s, Janet Murch and Barbara Wallis; grandchildren, Raleigh Murch (Jen), Lisa Goins (Tony), Stephanie Murch, Nathan Murch (Stephanie), Brandon Shell (Joy), Amy Shell Briesenick (KB), Jeff Seaton (Michelle), Chad Seaton (Angie), Ryan Seaton (Krista), Chris Seaton (Ashley), Chad Russell (Dawn), and Justin Wallis; great grandchildren, Katelyn and Brooklyn Shell, AJ, Jakob and Jonah Juarez, Rian and Leo Briesenick, Nash Murch, Kaylee (Brandon) Curington, Kayson and Kinley Hendrix, Tori Goins, Johnathon, Natalie, Nathan, JR and Madison Murch, Brady, Myah, Parker, Preston, Arden, Olivia, Ella, Zoey and Hudson Seaton, Cade and Shelby Russell; great great grandchild, Memphis Russell; and many nieces and nephews.
Lou Jane is preceded in death by her husband of 32 years, Charles “Ike” Wallis, who passed away in 1995; first husband of 14 years, Nathan Willis Murch, who passed away in 1961; sons, Steven Murch, Timothy Murch, and David Wallis; daughter, Rebecca J. “Becky” Shell; and her parents, sisters, and brothers.
Funeral Services will be held at 12:00 p.m., Saturday, May 18, 2024, at Boone Funeral Home East Chapel – A Family Tradition Funeral Home, 5330 Washington Avenue with Pastor Steve Clayton officiating. Burial will be in Worthington Chapel Cemetery, Sacramento, KY.
Friends may visit from 10:00 a.m. until service time, Saturday, May 18, 2024, at Boone Funeral Home East Chapel.
