Louise Elma (Schumacher) Daum

Louise Elma (Schumacher) Daum, age 88, of Evansville, IN, went home to be with the Lord unexpectedly on Tuesday, July 9, 2024, at her home.

Louise was born October 26, 1935, in Mackey, IN, to Louis and Elma Louise (Scholz) Schumacher. She graduated from Reitz High School in 1953 and was an active member of Salem Church of Darmstadt since 1967. Louise retired from Old National Bank in 1995 after 43 years of working in Customer Service.

Louise enjoyed playing cards with the Clabber League, working puzzles, and playing Wordle and Wordscapes. Louise loved her dogs, and she enjoyed being in her yard that overlooked the lake. Watching birds, feeding the deer and squirrels, and tending to her flowers were some of her favorite pastimes.

Louise never met a stranger, and she had friends of all ages. She was a fantastic cook; her chicken and dumplings, banana cake, and springerle were some of her family’s favorites. She was very proud of her children and loved her family immensely. They would spend as much time together as they could, even vacationing together and taking her on a cruise for her 80th birthday.

Louise is survived by her daughters, Susan Hicks and Barbara Daum (Julie Buse), both of Evansville, IN; son, James “Jim” Daum (Donna) of Evansville, IN; grandchildren, Dylan Daum (Jessica), Malorie Rang (Jeremiah), Kaitlyn Hicks, and Jonathon Hicks; great grandchildren, Brooks Daum, Morgan Daum, and Wesley Rang; sister-in-law, Judy Thomas of TX; god child, Janet Pruitt; and many nieces and nephews.

Louise is preceded in death by her parents, Louis and Elma Schumacher; loving husband of 49 years, Harold R. Daum, who passed away in 2005; sister, Gloria Freels; brother, Alfred “Al” Schumacher; son-in-law, Robert “Bob” Hicks; and beloved dog, Mica.

Graveside Services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, July 13, 2024, at Memorial Park Cemetery at 2200 Mesker Park Drive, Evansville, IN, with Pastor David Peterson officiating.

Friends may visit from 3:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., Friday, July 12, 2024, at Boone Funeral Home East Chapel – A Family Tradition Funeral Home, 5330 Washington Avenue, Evansville, IN.
