Marcelle (Hancock) Puryear, age 98, of Newburgh, IN, passed away Tuesday, November 26, 2024, at Heart to Heart Hospice House, surrounded by family.
Marcelle was born April 17, 1926, in Webster Co, KY, to Guy Payton Hancock and Bessie (Thomas) Hancock. She graduated from Onton High School in 1944, and married Bill, later that year. She was a faithful member of Washington Avenue Church of Christ since 1950. Marcelle loved her family and enjoyed being a caretaker for everyone. She also enjoyed cross stitching and being outside, working in her garden.
Marcelle is survived by her daughters, Judy Green, Bonnie Puryear, and Brenda Huber (Michael); grandchildren, Jeff Green (Deena), Kelly Miles (Mark), and John Green (Jennifer); great grandchildren, Ashley (Andy), Andrew, Abbey, Daniel, and Luke; and great great grandchildren, Colton and Henry.
Marcelle is preceded in death by her parents, Guy and Bessie Hancock; loving husband of 44 years, William B. Puryear, who passed away in 1988; sister, Montelle Jenkins; and brother, Morris Hancock.
Funeral Services will be held at 12:00 p.m., Monday, December 2, 2024, at Boone Funeral Home East Chapel – A Family Tradition Funeral Home, 5330 Washington Avenue with Gary Puryear officiating. Burial will be in Fairmont Cemetery, Henderson, KY.
Friends may visit from 10:00 a.m. until service time, Monday, December 2, 2024, at Boone Funeral Home East Chapel.
