Margaret Spence

Margaret C. (Hunter) Spence, age 96, formerly of Evansville, IN, passed away at 9:51 a.m., EST on Saturday, May 13, 2023, at Sanders Glen Assisted Living in Westfield, IN.

Margaret was born January 4, 1927, in Newton, KS, to Earl and Irene (Foster) Hunter. She graduated from Willow Springs High School in 1945. Margaret was a beautician in her early years. She also worked at de’Jong’s department store and as a secretary at Oakland City College, where she and Glen enjoyed bowling on a league with the faculty. She was an active youth counselor at Camp Clark and Camp Brosend and was also a member of the Women’s Missionary Society.

Margaret is survived by her sons, Rodney Spence (Barbara) and Randall Spence; granddaughter, Kelli McNamara (Gavin); and great grandchildren, Addi and Kellan Glen McNamara.

Margaret is preceded in death by her parents; loving husband of 70 years, Glen Spence in 2019; sisters, Laura Deschner, Ramona Cox, Wanda Mason, Bonnie Hunter and JoAnne Hill; and brother Fred Hunter.

Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Thursday, May 18, 2023, at Boone Funeral Home East Chapel – A Family Tradition Funeral Home, 5330 Washington Avenue with Pastor Jeff Harford and Reverend Ron Black officiating. Burial will be in Park Lawn Cemetery.

Friends may visit from 10:00 a.m. until service time, Thursday, May 18, 2023, at Boone Funeral Home East Chapel.
