Maria Cleofe Tascon Quintana Obituary

María Cleofe Tascon Quintana, 67 years old, of Candelaria, Valle del Cauca, Colombia, South America, passed away at 4:20 am on Wednesday, November 25th, 2020 at Deaconess Gateway Hospital in Newburgh, Indiana.

María Cleofe Tascon Quintana was born on September 2nd, 1953 in Candelaria, Valle del Cauca, Colombia, South America to Luis Alfredo Tascon, and Rosa Amelia Quintana de Tascon. She graduated from Instituto Comercial Kennedy in Palmira, Valle del Cauca, Colombia, South America in 1974. She worked at Instituto Seguro Social from 1975 to 2004 when she retired.

María Cleofe enjoyed watching her favorite soccer team “El América de Cali”, but especially loved to help others anyway she could and loved spending time with her family and friends. María Cleofe was a devoted aunt who dedicated her life to loving and protecting all her nephews and nieces. Luis, who was by her bedside during the time she became ill in Evansville, Indiana, remembers her as a unique person who touched the lives of many through her acts of love and generosity. Cleofe was a mother to him and he will always see her as his hero.

In Luis words, “I am left with the grace of God, who gave me the opportunity to have you in my life as a mother. You leave in me a physical void, but l am left with your heart, which will give me the necessary strength and wisdom to continue facing my life in the same way you fought for yours until your very last breath. I love you forever, tía Cleofe.”

María Cleofe is survived by her siblings Olga Mery Tascon Quintana (Julian Uribe) and her two children. Rubria Tascon Quintana and her four children. Gloria Marina Tascon Quintana and her two children. Marino Sori Tascon Quintana (Rosalba Bermudez) and his two children. Elena Tascon Quintana and her two children. Luis Alfredo Tascon Quintana and his two children, Carmen del Mar Tascon Quintana, Lilian Tascon Quintana (Carlos Gil) and three children, and Emilse Tascon Quintana and her three children. Also, her nephew that she loved so dearly Luis Alfredo Tascon Portilla (Claudia Tascon-Peña) of Evansville, Indiana. Luz Adriana Quintana Tascon (niece) of Candelaria, Valle del Cauca, Colombia, South America, and Gloria Marina Quintana Tascon (niece) of Candelaria, Valle del Cauca, Colombia, South America, and many more nieces, nephews, cousins, great friends and her beloved pets.

María Cleofe is preceded in death by her mother Rosa Amelia Quintana de Tascon. Her father Luis Alfredo Tascon, and her sister Nelly Tascon Quintana.

A Memorial Service will be held at 4:00 p.m., Thursday, December 3, 2020, at Boone Funeral Home East Chapel – A Family Tradition Funeral Home, 5330 Washington Avenue.
