Marietta (Usery) Ferguson

Marietta (Usery) Ferguson, age 86, of Evansville, IN, passed away at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, July 26, 2020, at Deaconess Gateway Hospital.

Marietta was born May 24, 1934, in Francisco, IN, to Hosea Albert and Freida Alma (Meier) Usery. She graduated from Princeton High School in 1952. Marietta was a member of Zoar United Church of Christ in Elberfeld, IN, where she was the former president of the Women’s Guild. She enjoyed traveling to Florida in the winter, working in her flower garden, and especially spending time with her family.

Marietta is survived by her daughter, Renee Nelson; grandchildren, Laura Syers and Amanda Jackson (Ricky); great grandchildren, Adrianna Syers, Brianna Syers, Camden Syers, Aaliyah Welder, Xavier Greer, Ja’Niyah Greer, and Imani Greer; and several nieces and nephews.

Marietta is preceded in death by her parents; husband of 52 years, Horace Ferguson, Jr.; and sisters, Lucille Heironimus, Laverne Heironimus, Evelyn Stone, and Martha Gieselman.

Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, August 4, 2020, at Boone Funeral Home East Chapel – A Family Tradition Funeral Home, 5330 Washington Avenue with Pastor Gordon Jones officiating. Burial will be in Zoar Cemetery in Elberfeld, IN.  

Friends may visit from 11:00  a.m. until service time, Tuesday, August 4, 2020, at BOONE FUNERAL HOME EAST CHAPEL.
