Marilyn Carneal Obituary

Marilyn C. (Latham) Carneal, age 92 of Newburgh, IN passed away Friday, October 27, 2023 at University Nursing Center surrounded by so many that loved and cared for her.

Marilyn was born September 11, 1931 in Rosewood, KY to Ephram and Ella Latham. She was a 1950 graduate of Bosse High School and went on to work as an administrative assistant at several companies for nearly 50 years before retirement.

Before moving to Evansville, IN, Marilyn spent several years in Charleston, South Carolina with her late husband Ken who was stationed there and served in the Navy. She loved Charleston and her time there but was pulled back closer to her roots where she would carry on her career and start her family. Marilyn enjoyed spending time with her family on their farm, raising race horses with her husband and son, and most of all watching Kentucky basketball. She was the most caring mother, nurturing grandmother, and loving wife.

Marilyn is survived by her son, Steve Carneal (Renee Wedel); and granddaughter, Katelan Carneal (Jamison Mitchell).

Marilyn is preceded in death by her parents, Ephram and Ella Latham; beloved husband of 71 years, Kenneth R. “Kenny” Carneal; brother Doyle Latham; and sisters, Wilma Fleming and Norene Fox.

Graveside Services will be held at a later date in Park Lawn Mausoleum where we will celebrate Marilyn’s life.
