Mark Paulson Obituary

Mark Paulson, age 68, of Newburgh, IN, entered into heaven at his home Sunday, October 18, 2020, surrounded by his family.

Mark was born March 1, 1952 in Evansville, IN, to the late Elmer and Joy (Peerman) Paulson. He was a 1970 graduate of North High School. Mark went on to receive his Bachelor of Science and Master of Science degrees at Indiana State University where he was a member of Epsilon Pi Tau, the honorary Industrial Arts fraternity. He taught 28 years in the Evansville Vanderburgh School Corporation. He then retired from the Warrick County School Corporation after a total of 40 years of teaching at the junior high and high school levels. After retirement, he was always ready to go to breakfast with friends and the teachers’ group. Mark touched many young lives in a positive way with his automotive and industrial arts knowledge. Mark was a Kentucky Colonel and a member of the National Education Association. He was also a member of Living Word Christian Church where he enjoyed singing in the choir. He was an avid car enthusiast who could always be found in the garage working on his latest project of either building street rods or his drag car. His latest project was a 1948 Dodge Pilot House Pick Up. He enjoyed driving his family to the E'ville Iron Frog Follies where he was a long-time member. Mark shared his passion for cars with his sons and could also be found having fun racing with his family at drag strips across the tri state area. He also was a sports fan and enjoyed going to the Colts football games and UK basketball games with family.

He loved God, his family, life, and being around people. Every day was special to him. He shared his baptism with his wife, son, and grandson. All who loved him will miss his contagious smile and his stories.

Mark is survived by the love of his life and best friend, his wife of 43 years, Elizabeth (Tucker) Paulson; his son, Bryan Paulson and wife Sarah, their children Claire, Tucker, and Brock; his son, Kyle Paulson and wife Sarah. He was anxiously awaiting the birth of their son. He was also survived by his sister, Tana Schlimmer and husband Ron; sister, Donna Brown and husband Gary; and nieces and nephews.

Mark is preceded in death by his parents, Elmer and Joy Paulson; and in-laws, Frank and Marian Tucker.
