Mark Joseph Werner, Sr.

Mark Joseph Werner, Sr., age 71, of Evansville, IN, passed away Thursday, February 22, 2024, at home.

Mark was born January 21, 1953, in Evansville, IN, to Arthur V. and Mildred A. (Schaad) Werner. He graduated from Rex Mundi High School in 1971 where he played as a guard on the football team. Mark worked for the city of Evansville for 39 years in Maintenance before retiring in 2011 and was of the Catholic faith. He loved his family, and he especially loved spending time with his grandchildren and watching them play baseball. He was proud of his country, enjoyed reading and watching trains, and he loved grilling out and cooking for his family.

Mark is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Deborah Kim (Smith) Werner; son, Mark Joseph Werner, Jr. (Andrea); daughter, Michelle N. Werner; 12 sisters and brothers; grandchildren, Caleb, Logan, and Beckett; and many nieces and nephews.

Mark is preceded in death by his parents; and brothers, Larry Werner and Arty Werner.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, February 29, 2024, at Boone Funeral Home East Chapel – A Family Tradition Funeral Home, 5330 Washington Avenue with Father Ted Temple officiating. Burial will be in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.

Friends may visit from 3:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, February 28, 2024, and from 10:00 a.m. until service time, Thursday, February 29, 2024, at Boone Funeral Home East Chapel.
