Martha Joyce (Guiney) Oates, age 82, of Newburgh, IN went home to her heavenly family on Sunday, May 5, 2024, at Linda E. White Hospice House.
Martha was born June 27, 1941, in Princeton, IN, to the late James F. and Elizabeth J. (Jones) Guiney. Although she referred to Princeton as “God’s Country,” She made the move to Evansville to pursue her undergrad Business Degree at the University of Evansville. She was a proud member of the Chi Omega Sisterhood. She continued in education and received her Nursing Degree and Master’s Degree in Bio-Medical Science from the University of Southern Indiana.
As a member of Crossroads Christian Church, the PEO sisterhood (50 years of service), 2:42 Bible Study group and volunteer at Karama; Martha encouraged others to seek the will of God and pursue their faith deeply.
Martha had a love for music and had a passion for writing, composing, and painting. She loved spending time with her family and pets.
Martha is survived by her loving husband of 45 years, Daniel L. Oates. She is also survived by the family brought together by their marriage: Stephanie Beman (Harrison), Kristen (Eric) Girten, Emily (Jacob) Neumann, and Amber (Nick) Robinson, along with her grandchildren, Sam, Jacob (Maddy), and Clare Girten, Ethan Robison, and Norah, James David (JD), and Reece Robinson, beloved dogs, Charlie, Faith, and Freddy; as well as many close friends and family in faith.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, May 9, 2024, at Crossroads Christian Church, Small Chapel, 10800 Lincoln Avenue, Newburgh, IN, with Pastor Jack Arney officiating and the Southern Indiana Nurse’s Honor Guard will perform a Pinning Ceremony. Burial will be in White Church Cemetery, Princeton, IN.
Friends may visit from 3:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, May 8, 2024, at Boone Funeral Home East Chapel – A Family Tradition Funeral Home, 5330 Washington Avenue, Evansville, IN, and from 9:00 a.m. until service time, Thursday, May 9, 2024, at Crossroads Christian Church, Small Chapel.
