Mary D. (Patterman) Braun, age 95, of Newburgh, Indiana, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 7, 2026, at Hamilton Pointe in Newburgh, Indiana.
Mary was born December 27, 1930, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, to Emil and Dorothea (Eagleson) Patterman. She graduated from West View High School in 1950. In addition to raising 7 children, she worked in retail for a time, including Macy’s, Kaufman’s, Ayers and De Jongs Department Store. Mary loved vacationing in Gulf Shores with her Pittsburgh friends, playing bridge, water aerobics at the Y, and spending time with family.
Mary is survived by her her sons, Clark Braun (Gail), Thomas Braun (Diane), Patrick Braun (Mary Jo) and Michael Braun; daughters, Linda Davis (Dan), Laura Dilliha (Steve), and Leslie Mattingly (Steve); her grandchildren, Lacey Olson (Ben), Abbie Graham (Jacob), Matt Braun (Kelly), Adam Braun (Taylor), Leah McIntyre (Matt), Amanda Horan (Loren), Katie Andrews (Jonny), Sarah Bohrer (Brian), Emily Morrison (John), Samantha Dreher (Frank), Grant Davis (Scott), Christen Butler (Travis), Jimmy Dilliha (Beth), Joey Dilliha (Amanda), Shelby Schroeder (Calan) and Amy Hession (Michael); her 30 great grandchildren; and many loving nieces, nephews, and extended family.
Mary is preceded in death by her late husband of 61 years, T. Clark Braun; parents, Emil and Dorothea Patterman; her sister, Dorothy Wharey; and her brother, Skip Patterman.
The family of Mary would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at Hamilton Pointe as well as the Heart to Heart Hospice team for their care and compassion while taking care of her.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, July 21, 2026, with an hour of visitation starting at 9:00 a.m. until time of service, taking place at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, located at 625 Frame Rd., Newburgh, IN 47630, with Father Claude Burns officiating. Burial will be in St. John’s Cemetery in Newburgh.
Friends may visit from 3:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., Monday, July 20, 2026, at Boone Funeral Home East Chapel.
