Mary Jane Lawrence Obituary

Mary Jane (Reine) Lawrence, age 80, of Newburgh, IN, passed away peacefully at home with her family by her side on Wednesday, September 4, 2024.

Mary Jane was born February 7, 1944, in Evansville, IN, the fourth of ten children to Edwin H. and Cecelia (Folz) Reine. She graduated from Mater Dei High School in 1962 and earned her Nursing Degree from St. Mary’s School of Nursing. Mary worked as a Registered Nurse at various locations, including Visiting Nurses Association. She was a faithful member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church for over 50 years, and she loved working as a volunteer at Mother Teresa’s Treasures. Mary Jane was a hard worker who, in her spare time, enjoyed gardening, needlepoint, embroidery, crafts, boating, and water skiing. She especially loved spending time with her family, siblings, and grandchildren.

Mary Jane is survived by her beloved husband of 56 years, Robert E. “Bob” Lawrence, Jr.; daughter, Sheila K. Williams (Jeff) of Indianapolis, IN; son, Robert E. “Bobby” Lawrence III (Mary Jo) of Sterling Heights, MI; sisters, Judith Ann “Judy” Miller (Dan) of Louisville, KY, and Patricia A. Singleton (Patrick) of Wadesville, IN; brothers, Edwin “Joe” Reine of Evansville, IN, and Charles A. “Chuck” Reine (Pam) of Evansville, IN; sisters-in-law, Gloria Reine of Newburgh, IN, Diana Reine of Evansville, IN, and Linda Overfield (Kenneth) of Davenport, FL; grandchildren, Robert Paul Lawrence and Cecilia Jo Lawrence; and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Mary Jane is preceded in death by her parents, Edwin and Cecelia Reine; sisters, Katherine A. “Kathy” Clark (Paul Richard) and Rosalie Reine; brothers, Anthony S. Reine (Mary Catherine), Donald H. Reine, and Steven Reine; and sister-in-law, Bettye Jo Reine.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, September 13, 2024, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 625 Frame Road, Newburgh, IN, with Father Dusty Burns officiating. Private Entombment will held be in St. Joseph Catholic Mausoleum, Evansville, IN.

Friends may visit from 10:00 a.m. until service time, Friday, September 13, 2024, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church.
