Mary Margaret (Wheatley) Armentano

Mary Margaret (Wheatley) Armentano, age 95, of Evansville, IN, passed away peacefully at 3:30 a.m. on Monday, September 27, 2021, at Bethel Manor.

Mary was born August 9, 1926, in Petersburg, IN, to the late Walter and Iva (Tharp) Wheatley. She graduated from Washington High School in 1944 and was a member of Good Shepherd Catholic Church. Mary worked for Sears for 25 years before retiring in 1985. After retirement, she worked in the gift shop at Deaconess Hospital. Mary was a member of SWIRCA and the VFW Ladies’ Auxilary. She enjoyed sewing, cooking, playing cards, and she especially loved spending time with her family.

Mary is survived by her daughter, Linda Stratman (Stephen); son, James Armentano (Mary); sister, Betty Bateman; grandchildren, Michael Armentano, Matthew Armentano (Laura), Joseph Armentano, Brian Stratman (Shelley), and Stacey Stratman; and great grandchildren, Camden Stratman, Nicholas Armentano, Jacob Armentano, Jessica Armentano, and Isaiah Armentano.

Mary is preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Iva Wheatley; husband of 51 years, Frank J. Armentano who passed away in 1997; sister, Zone Lane; and brother, Robert Wheatley.

The family would like to say a special thank you to Heritage Hospice and Bethel Manor for their loving care and compassion of our mother.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:30 a.m., Thursday, September 30, 2021, at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church, 918 West Mill Road, Evansville, with Father Jason Gries officiating. There will be no public visitation prior to the service. A Live Stream will be available beginning twenty minutes prior to the service time.
