Maurice Gene Tyring, age 89, of Evansville, IN, passed away at 6:42 p.m. on Tuesday, October 5, 2021, at home, surrounded by his family.
Gene was born October 12, 1931, in Evansville, IN, to Norman and Delta (Albrecht) Tyring. He graduated from Bosse High School in 1950 and was a Veteran in the United States Navy. Gene was a member of Eastminster Presbyterian Church. He was the Founder of Black Beauty Coal Company. He worked as the Secretary-Treasurer of AAA of Southern Indiana, as a Real Estate Broker for Citizens Realty and Insurance, and as the Vice President of Woodward Commercial Realty. Gene loved working in his yard and keeping it beautiful.
Gene is survived by his loving wife of 24 years, Carolyn (Mitchell) Tyring; daughters, Becky Claspell (David) and Terry Dickens (Randy); brother, Norman “Bill” Tyring, Jr. (Laura); brother-in-law, Keith Mitchell (Kathy); and many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
Gene is preceded in death by his parents, Norman and Delta Tyring; sister, Angela Holl; and brothers, Delbert Tyring and Donald Tyring.
A Service of Witness to the Resurrection will be held at 12:00 p.m., Friday, October 15, 2021, at Eastminster Presbyterian Church, 5501 Washington Avenue, Evansville, with Pastor J.T. Silence officiating. A Live Stream will be available beginning twenty minutes prior to the service time.
