Michael Wayne Hunter, age 53, of Evansville, IN, passed away Friday, November 12, 2021, at The Village at Hamilton Pointe after a long battle with cancer.
Mike was born June 3, 1968, in Muncie, IN. He graduated from Reitz High School in 1986 and attended Ivy Tech and the University of Arkansas. A Navy veteran and avid motorcycle rider, Mike was a member of Rolling Thunder Indiana Chapter 6. He attended Landmark Baptist Church. Mike’s greatest joy was spending time with his daughter, Sophia. He loved finding adventures for them to enjoy together like festivals, art shows, farmers markets, and music. He admired her talent for art and music and always encouraged her to pursue the things that made her happy.
Mike is survived by his mother, Sharon Norvell; daughter, Diana “Sophia” Hunter; sisters Jacque Ford (Gerald) and Krista Williams (Steve); uncles Don Hunter (Alice), Roger Hunter (Yvette) and Charles Gardner (Donna); aunt Lana Hunter; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Mike is preceded in death by his father, Wilburn “Jack” Hunter, and grandparents Vernon and Geneva Gardner and Wilburn and Catherine Hunter.
A celebration of life will be held at 4 p.m., Saturday, November 20, 2021, at Boone Funeral Home East Chapel – A Family Tradition Funeral Home, 5330 Washington Avenue with Reverend Terry Gamblin officiating.
