Mildred (Burris) Hopper

Mildred (Burris) Hopper, age 92, of Evansville, IN, passed away at 12:45 a.m. on January 1, 2021, at Signature Healthcare.

Mildred was born April 24, 1928, in Paducah, KY, to John Burris and Rachel (Parker) Burris. She graduated from Central High School. Mildred taught Sunday School for over 50 years, and was most recently a member of Heritage Baptist Church. She worked as a seamstress for several local bridal shops.

Mildred is survived by her daughter, Deborah Barnett; brother, John Burris (Carolyn), sister, Marianna May; grandchildren, Jessica Campbell (Scott) and Damon Barnett (Lindsay); three great-grandchildren, Emory, Asher, and Nash; brother-in-law, Gene Hopper; and many nieces and nephews.

Mildred is preceded in death by her husband of 44 years, Harold “Bubby” Hopper; sisters, Leatha Watson, Stella Knight, and Betty Lou Albert; brothers, Paul and Kenneth Burris; and son-in-law, Dwight Barnett.

Graveside Services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, January 5, 2021, at Park Lawn Cemetery with Pastor Alan Jackson officiating.
