Mirrell N. (McCammon) Ford, age 90, of Evansville, IN, passed away at 6:00 a.m. on Monday, July 11, 2022, at Linda E. White Hospice House.
Mirrell was born June 9, 1932, in Knoxville, TN, to Karl D. and Mary E. (Hilton) McCammon. She graduated from Young High School in Knoxville, TN, and went on to earn her Associate’s Degree from Knoxville Business College. Mirrell was a member of St. Luke Lutheran Church where she was active with women’s groups, and she was a charter member of Phantom Theater at the Evansville State Hospital. She worked as an Executive Secretary for 29 years before retiring from the Evansville State Hospital in 1997. Family was #1 for her. She absolutely loved all things family – cooking for them, planning family reunions in Knoxville, creating family calendars, and spending time with them. Mirrell made the best desserts and bread. Her famous sourdough bread was enjoyed by her family, friends, church, bake sales, and women’s groups. She was an avid Bridge player where she built lasting friendships over the past 60 years. Mirrell took great pride in making counted cross-stitch pictures which she lovingly created for her family and friends. She made Christmas stockings for each grandchild and great grandchild. Everyone who met Mirrell loved her and her infectious smile.
Mirrell is survived by her beloved husband of 70 years, Henry Bradley Ford; daughter, Elizabeth Ann “Beth” Paul (Rick); son, Bradley Scott Ford (Kathy); sister, Lucy B. Ellis; brother, Ben F. McCammon (Betty); grandchildren, Callie Vaughan (Rob), Chelsea Cooper (Matt), Ashley Thomas (Ryan), Wesley Ford (Maddie), Melissa Hohulin (Tate), and Joshua Ford; and great grandchildren, Skylar, Wyatt, Austin, Rosalyn, Jackson, Clayton, Loretta, Zadok, and one on the way.
