Nellie Clem Obituary

Nellie Marie (Wilkerson) Clem, age 87, of Evansville, IN, passed away at 7:00 a.m. on Sunday, February 16, 2020, at Hamilton Pointe Health & Rehab Center in Newburgh.

Nellie was born March 2, 1932, in Bells, TN, to John Finley and Maurine (White) Wilkerson. She graduated from Bells High School in 1959 and became a Legal Secretary after attending West Tennessee Business College.

Nellie married her husband of 65 years, Donald “Don” Clem on November 28, 1954. They have two sons, John Clem and Jack Clem. She loved being a stay-at-home wife and mother. Nellie was baptized and added to the Lord’s Church in 1944. She was currently a member of the Washington Avenue Church of Christ, and she served as a Bible School Teacher for many years. Nellie also enjoyed the 10 years she and her husband were serving and working with the Senior members of the congregation.

Nellie enjoyed reading and was a big NASCAR fan of Tony Stewart. She also liked playing games with friends and neighbors.

Nellie is survived by her loving husband, Don Clem of Evansville, IN; sons, John Clem (Dawn) of Horse Shoe, NC, and Jack Clem (Kandy) of Evansville, IN; 4 grandchildren; and 5 great grandchildren.

Nellie is preceded in death by her parents; and sister, Jean Wilson.

The family would like to say a special thank you to the staff at Hamilton Pointe for their kind and considerate services.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, February 21, 2020 at Boone Funeral Home East Chapel – A Family Tradition Funeral Home, 5330 Washington Avenue with Stephen Rogers officiating. Burial will be Private at Memorial Park Cemetery. 

Friends may visit from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., Thursday, February 20, 2020 at BOONE FUNERAL HOME EAST CHAPEL.

Memorial Contributions may be made to: Washington Avenue Church of Christ at 4001 Washington Avenue, Evansville, IN 47714 for the Western Kentucky Youth Camp.
