Perry Orville Cook, age 63, of Newburgh, IN, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, September 26, 2024, at Heart to Heart Inpatient Hospice Center.
Perry was born November 17, 1960, in Muhlenberg County, KY, to the late Orville Lee and Virginia Imogene (Cottrell) Cook. He attended Castle High School and worked at SIRS. He was a faithful member of Gateway Baptist Church where he was involved with the AWANA Program. He loved his church, and he especially loved to sing and worship. His favorite song was “He Touched Me,” by Bill Gaither. In his younger years, Perry enjoyed riding his moped and bowling with his bowling league. More recently, his daily routine included going to McDonalds every morning – come what may: rain, snow, hail or 100o – to place his order with Vickie for a Large Diet Coke with extra ice. He would then return home for lunch and work his puzzles at the table and play his bowling game on his iPad. Perry had an infectious smile, and he especially loved his nephew, Matthew’s two dogs, Daisy and Lady Bug.
Perry is survived by his sisters, Diana Epley (Oscar) of Newburgh, IN and Donna Scheller (Stephen) of Orlando, FL; nieces and nephews, Matthew Epley, Andrew Scheller, and Kirsten Scheller; and great nieces and great nephews, Chancelor, Elijah, Autumn, and Abigail.
Graveside Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. CST, Thursday, October 3, 2024, at Rose Hill Cemetery, 603 E. Everly Brothers Blvd, Central City, KY.
APEX Behavioral Care provided excellent in-home services which allowed Perry to be able to stay at his home. Jen Popka, Diana Epley, Judy Cook, Becky Moranz, and April Hurst took turns being his round-the-clock caregivers. The family would like to say a special Thank You to Stephanie Duncan, Perry’s case worker from Columbia Agency, and the staff at Heart to Heart Hospice for their kindness and care.
