Peter Froehle Obituary

Peter George Froehle of Newburgh, IN, passed away on Friday, August 6, 2021, at his home surrounded by his wife Sheryl and his sister Anita.

Peter was born September 21, 1947 in Evansville, IN to the late Nancy Frances (Moore) Froehle and Joseph W. Froehle. He was a 1965 graduate of Rex Mundi High School. Pete and Sheryl enjoyed attending almost every RM reunion as well as the “All-School Reunion” held at The Gold Room in 2010. Pete enlisted in the Navy in his senior year. Then, 1 week after graduation he left for basic training at the Greatlakes Naval Training Center. After his basic training, he left for his first duty station at the Norfolk Naval Station in Norfolk, VA.  He served as an Airedale in the VP-24 Patrol Squadron (Anti-Submarine Warfare) and was deployed to Rota Spain and Reykjavik, Iceland 1965 – 1969.

He was a proud 50-year IBEW member, Journeyman and Master Electrician. He worked as an electrician building power plants through Local #1801in Owensboro, KY and then Local #16 in Evansville, IN. In 2000 he became the 1st NECA Residential Contractor. For over 25 years, Pete operated his own shop, P&S Electric, wiring many beautiful homes, including the home for the new President of Toyota in Princeton, IN.

Peter was a NHRA enthusiast along with being an avid Master Craft Boat owner and enjoyed tournament slalom water skiing. Summer was by far his favorite time of the year being on the river, the ocean or by the pool.

He was a past member and officer of the Evansville Water Ski Club, Red Brush Gun Club and the American Legion Kapperman Post #44. Pete adored our many animals through the years and was a dedicated Pet Parent to our GSD’s, Alex and Luke; Sheltie, Ruby Tuesday along with our rescued very special deaf cat Zoey, nicknamed Snow White by him.

Peter is preceded in death by his parents; and cherished stepmother, Rosalie Voight Froehle.

Peter is survived by his loving wife Sheryl (Tolley) Froehle together 37 years and married 33 wonderful years; brothers, Joseph Froehle (Donna) of Louisville, KY, Brian O. Froehle of LaGrange, KY; Sisters, Anita C. Devine (Jim) of Evansville, IN, Rebecca E. Elmore (Mike) of Portland, OR, many nephews, nieces, great nephews and great nieces. Along with stepbrothers and stepsisters of the Voight family, who we held in close family regard.

I would like to give special thanks to my brother Alan Tolley for the help and caring he gave my husband and I during these most difficult times.
