Phyllis Marie (Myers) Claycamp

Phyllis Marie (Myers) Claycamp, age 94, of Ferdinand, IN, passed away at 12:39 p.m. on Friday, May 20, 2022, at Scenic Hill at the Monastery in Ferdinand, IN.

Phyllis was born May 10, 1928, in Gibson City, IL, to Philip and Lillis (Suter) Myers. She graduated from Drummer High School in 1947 and went on to attended Nursing School. Phyllis was a member of Holy Spirit Catholic Church, and in her younger years, she directed the choir at United Methodist Church. She retired from St. Mary’s Hospital in 1995 after working as Urological Technician for 15 years and a Security Officer for 10 years. Phyllis was Chief on the Ambulance Crew for Civil Defense, and she taught First Aid and CPR for the Red Cross. She was a member of the Oblate Society of Sisters of St. Benedict Monastery, and she volunteered in the St. Benedict Monastery Infirmary. She enjoyed gardening and her green thumb could grow anything.

Phyllis is survived by her daughters, Valarie Beth Kingery of Hansen, KY, and Lyn Speedy (Frank) of Switz City, IN; son, Alfred Lloyd Claycamp II of Newburgh, IN; brother, Loren Lee Myers (Mary) of Elliot, IL; 9 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren; and 2 great great grandchildren.

Phyllis is preceded in death by her parents, Philip and Lillis Myers; husband Alfred Claycamp, who passed away in 1991; daughter, Vici Trap, who passed away in 2012; and brother, Joseph Myers, who passed away in 2004.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 2:00 p.m. EST, Saturday, June 4, 2022, at The Monastery Immaculate Conception, 802 East 10th Street, Ferdinand, IN. Burial will be Private.

Arrangements are being handled by Boone Funeral Home East Chapel – A Family Tradition Funeral Home, 5330 Washington Avenue, Evansville, IN.
