R. Glenn Parker Obituary

R. Glenn Parker, 84, of Evansville, Indiana, passed away unexpectedly in his sleep Friday, October 24, 2025.

Glenn was born at home to Marvin Edward Parker and Viva Lee (Thomasson) on March 18, 1941 in Onton, Kentucky.  Since he was the first, and remained the only grandchild on both sides of the family for several years, he was beloved and spoiled by 2 sets of grandparents and many aunts and uncles.

After graduating from North High School in 1959, he moved to St. Louis, MO, to work at the Chrysler plant before joining the Marines where he learned, "they cannot make you do anything, they can only make you wish you had".

In his youth, Glenn loved traveling around the country. Much of that travel was with his friend, David Barr.  The boys met in second grade and were best friends to the end of his life.  In the mid-seventies, Glenn moved with David and his wife Margret to Phoenix, AZ.  When he moved back to Evansville, he worked at Lazy Boy furniture with his friend Jerry DeWig and lived with his parents helping care for them to the end of their lives.  In retirement, he enjoyed reading, trivia, and playing pinocle with his sister, niece, and nephew, where he would entertain them with stories from his travels.

Glenn is survived by his daughter, Kimberly Parker Payne (Jeff); his son, Christopher Parker; and the mother of his children, his former wife, Pam Roebling.  He also leaves behind his sister, Nancie Mosby (Bruce); a granddaughter, Christy Westerfield (Wayne) and her three daughters, Mylie Lynn, Hallie Nicole and Gracie Jo.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Marvin Parker and Viva Lee (Thomasson) Parker; and his younger brother, Blaine Parker.

Graveside Services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, November 3, 2025, at Onton Cemetery with Rev. Ryan Clark officiating. Burial will be in Onton Cemetery in Onton, KY.
