R. Warren Wright, age 82, of Newburgh, IN, passed away Friday, April 18, 2025, at his home surrounded by family. Warren was born February 15, 1943 in Newburgh, IN, to William and Mabel (Whitaker) Wright.
Warren retired from Alcoa after 30 years of service, but was most notable for owning and operating Wright’s Berry Farm in Newburgh, where he met many lifelong friends to this day. Warren was a hard working and strong man who loved to work on the farm, often saying, “It’s not work when you enjoy what you do.” He frequently used his talents to help others and was a jack of all trades. Warren was also a fan of fast cars and is fondly remembered for racing the Little Red Maverick.
He was a dedicated member of Northwest Church of Christ in Evansville, IN.
Warren is remembered for enjoying the simple pleasures in life, such as telephone conversations with sisters, visits from his children and grandchildren, eating food he grew himself, and bragging about finding the first ripe strawberry of the season - and then eating it for all to see.
Warren is survived by his wife of 41 years, Teena (Lowry) Wright; son, Mat Wright; daughter, Lori Grimm; daughter, Summer Aulich-Benford (Blair); son, Jeff (Jessica) Marrett; son, Jerod Marrett; daughter, Julie (Conrad) Mockobee; and grandchildren, Grace, Jon (Aeriel), Jacob, Olivia, Ben, Emma, Jerod Lee Jr., Gavin, Luke, and Bo.
Warren is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Ray Wright; sister, Carolyn (Wright) Heim and Marylou (Wright) Simpson. He also leaves behind several nieces and nephews, as well as best friends who were more like family.
The family will be forever grateful to the staff from Heart to Heart Hospice, whose compassionate care gave Warren the comforts he needed in his final days and ensured they were peaceful.
Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, April 26, 2025, at Boone Funeral Home East Chapel – A Family Tradition Funeral Home, 5330 Washington Avenue with Chuck Bartlett officiating. Entombment will be Private in Memorial Park Mausoleum.
