Raymond Lantz, Jr. Obituary

Raymond E. Lantz, Jr., age 93, of Evansville, IN, went to be with the Lord on Friday, September 13, 2024.

Raymond was born June 11, 1931, a son of Raymond E. Lantz, Sr. and Ruth (Burnett) Lantz in Marion, Ohio. He married Oleta M. Lee Gaudio on August 7, 1960. They celebrated 61 years of marriage until her passing October 30, 2021.

Raymond served proudly in the United States Air Force for 21 years, retiring in the grade of Master Sergeant at K.I. Sawyer AFB, Michigan in 1971. He worked as a civilian employee in the Automotive Technology Division, 3330 Technical Training Wing, Chanute AFB, Illinois, retiring in 1993. He also worked at Anderson Ford.

Raymond was a life member of the Air Force Sergeant’s Association, member of the Gibson City Lions Club, being selected as “Lion of the Year” in 1997/1998, and the Gibson City United Methodist Church.

Raymond enjoyed golf, NASCAR, and was a New York Yankees and Ohio State Buckeye fan.

Raymond is survived by sons, Ronald L. Gaudio (Beth) of Port Charlotte, FL, Raymond E. Lantz, III of Piper City, IL, Thomas M. Lantz (Connie) of Evansville, IN, Douglas E. Lantz (Teri) of Bloomington, IL; daughters, Debbie L. Stacey of Venice, FL and Pamela L. Bradbury (Craig) of Evansville, IN; 16 grandchildren; and 25 great grandchildren.

Raymond is preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Ruth Lantz; wife, Oleta Gaudio Lantz (Lee); and sister, Marlene.

“Weep not dear friend as you pass by. For you are now so once was I and as I am now so shall you be. Go home my friend and wipe away your tears, for I must lay here ‘til Christ appears.”

A Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, October 6, 2024 at the Gibson City United Methodist Church, 206 E. 10th Street, Gibson City, IL. Burial will be in Drummer Township Cemetery in Gibson City, IL.

Friends may visit from 1:00 p.m. until service time, Sunday, October 6, 2024, at Gibson City United Methodist Church.

In lieu of flowers, Memorial Contributions may be made to the United Methodist Church in Gibson City at 206 E. 10th Street, Gibson City, IL 60936 or Gibson City Lion’s Club (for local projects) at 222 N. Sangamon Avenue, Gibson City, IL 60936.
