Raymond B. Musich, age 86, of Evansville, IN, passed away Thursday, October 9, 2025, at Ascension St. Vincent – Evansville.
Raymond was born June 9, 1939, in Ely, MN, to the late Matthew F. and Angela J. (Krizner) Musich. He graduated from Ely Memorial High School in 1958. Ray later received his Bachelor’s Degree in teaching from St. Cloud State University and his Master’s Degree in teaching from Winona State University. He served in the US Army from 1963-1965. He married the love of his life, Marelyn Crothers in September 1963, and together they built their family in St. Cloud and Winona, MN before locating to Evansville, IN in 1982. He retired from Holy Spirit Catholic School in 2009 where he was a Physical Education teacher for many years. He was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church for over 40 years. Raymond enjoyed golfing, travelling, and especially spending time with his family.
Ray loved his family and was a devoted husband, father "pops", father-in-law, grandpa, and great grandpa. He was best at dealing out sarcastic humor and thrived on giving the impression that he was a “hard crusty old man.” But those he let in knew he was just a big softie on the inside, earning the nickname “moon pie” by close family. He realized great pride and joy through his children “my 3 boys”, grandchildren, and great grandsons. He was a member of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church, and before his failing health, rarely missed an early Sunday morning mass. Once homebound, he learned the technology to be able to attend virtual mass.
Ray enjoyed spending time with his family whether it was card night, working on jigsaw puzzles, watching them participate in sports, having Friday night dinner, or at holiday gatherings. He enjoyed playing penny slots at the casino, collecting elephants, watching hockey (or any sport) on tv, golfing, eating out (especially breakfast), visits with his YMCA and teaching friends, and Hacienda lunches with Robin.
Raymond is survived by “his three boys”, Ray Musich Jr. (Wendy), Tim Musich (Juanita), and Todd Musich (Emily), all of Evansville, IN; grandchildren, Justin Musich (Lauren), Brittany Musich, Shelby Musich, Brian Taylor, Blake Musich, Brennan Musich (Khloie), and Tyler Musich; and great-grandsons, Hollis and Gavin Musich.
Raymond is preceded in death by his parents; loving wife of 51 years, Marelyn R. (Crothers) Musich; and only brother, Matt (Elaine) Musich of Colorado.
