Rev. C. Marion “Charlie” Brown, age 82, of Evansville, IN, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, February 18, 2026, at his home, surrounded by his family. He was born to Charles Marion and Carrie Evelyn (Windell) Brown . He attended Frankfort Pilgrim College when he met the love his life, Shirley. Marion was a founding member of the Midwest Pilgrim Holiness Church Conference, and a founding member of the Fundamental Wesleyan Convention. He and Shirley faithfully served for over 50 years at Wesleyan Methodist Church of Evansville and other churches in Southern Indiana and Illinois. Together, they owned and operated Brown Bus Transportation. For over 40 years, he was contract school bus driver H-66 for EVSC, Evansville area Catholic schools, Memorial High School, many daycares, marching bands, church groups, and too many others to name. A lover of farming and John Deere tractors, Marion had a kind heart who always found the good in you, loved people, and loved the Lord. He dedicated his life to ministry and family.
Marion is survived by daughters, Cheryl Brown, Catrina Brown, and Charla Fox (Brian); sons, Chuck Brown (Debbie) and Chris Brown; siblings, Dr. Joe C. Brown (Carol), Patricia Heatwole (Richard), David Brown (Karyn), Susan Seal (Harold Jr. ); sister in law, Barbara Howard; brother in laws, Mike Ratliff (Dr. Catherine) and Samuel Ratliff (Sandra); aunt, Jeanette Watson; grandchildren, Chip (Lindsay), Kimberlee (Jacob), Bradlee (Susannah), Brooke, and Pumpkin; great grandchildren and lights of his life, Charlotte, Mackenna, Amelia, Allie, Sophia, Benji, and Brooks; and many beloved cousins, nieces and nephews.
Marion is preceded in death by his parents; the love of his life Shirley (Anderson Ratliff) Brown; nephews, Ricky and Jason; and niece, Leslie.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. CST, Monday, February 23, 2026, at Boone Funeral Home East Chapel – A Family Tradition Funeral Home, 5330 Washington Avenue with Rev. Charles Brown II officiating. Graveside Service will be held at 5 p.m. EST, Monday, February 23, 2026, in Heidelburg Cemetery, Corydon, IN.
Friends may visit from 2:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. CST, Sunday, February 22, 2026, and Monday, February 23, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. until service time CST, at Boone Funeral Home East Chapel.
