Richard A. Langhorst

Richard A. Langhorst, 87, of Newburgh, IN, passed away, Sunday, July 24, 2022 at his home, surrounded by his loving family.

Richard was born September 13, 1934, in Evansville, IN, to the late Richard H. and Bertha (Allen) Langhorst. He was a 1952 graduate of Bosse High School and went on to attend the U of E, and later earned his Bachelor’s and Master’s Degree from ISUE, now USI. Richard was a Veteran in the United States Army, where he served in Germany.  Richard was a member of the Masonic Lodge 174 in Newburgh, IN. He retired in 1997 from the Warrick County School Corporation, where he taught at John H. Castle Elementary School for 24 years. He enjoyed driving the bus for field trips in the evenings and on the weekends. Richard was a volunteer firefighter and was a charter member of the Paradise Fire Department for 15 years.

Richard is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Gale (Lockhart) Langhorst; daughter, Brenda Langhorst Grall (Ken); sisters, Carol Gainey and Peggy Bauer (Jim); brother, Dan Langhorst (Melinda); grandchildren, Morgan Beck and Sydney Beck; and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, July 27, 2022, at Boone Funeral Home East Chapel – A Family Tradition Funeral Home, 5330 Washington Avenue with Pastor Bill Tennyson officiating.  A Live Stream will be available beginning twenty minutes prior to the service time.
