Richard Edward Nicholson, age 87, of Evansville, IN, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, June 19, 2022, at Linda E. White Hospice House with his daughter by his side.
Richard was born July 26, 1934, in Evansville, IN, to Richard Earl Nicholson and Ruth (Waters) Nicholson. After graduating from Reitz High School, Richard served in the United States Army during the Korean War. A graduate of Evansville College (U of E), he worked for Chrysler, Mead Johnson, and NCR before being employed for many years by, and retiring from, Whirlpool, working as a Data Base Administrator and Systems Analyst. His marriage to Sharon was the joy of his life. They were members of First Christian Church where he taught the Encouragers Class and, later in life, he and Sharon were members of Crossroads Christian Church. During the pandemic, he and his daughter, Michele, First Christian Church services online. Richard loved his Christian family at both churches.
Richard is survived by his daughter, Michele Nicholson; sisters, Jackie DeVoy-Lovelace, Betty Fleming; brothers, James Nicholson (Sheila) and Eddie Nicholson; and many wonderful nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
Richard is preceded in death by his parents, Richard Earl and Ruth Nicholson; beloved and loving wife of 59 years, Sharon M. (Grayson) Nicholson; sisters, Jeanne Shoulders and Mary Louise Ditzer; brothers, Robert Nicholson and David Isaac Nicholson.
Funeral Services will be held at 12:00 p.m., Thursday, June 23, 2022, at First Christian Church 2845 Beaumont Dr, Evansville, IN, with Pastor Jerry Clark officiating. A Live Stream will be available beginning twenty minutes prior to the service time.
