Richard Frederick “Dick” Slade, 88, formerly of Evansville, Indiana, passed away in his sleep of natural causes on Sunday, May 24, 2020, at The Isle of Cedar Ridge in Cedar Park, Texas.
Richard was born August 28, 1931, in Ashley, Ohio, to James Elmer Slade and Sylvia Jewel Wilder. He grew up in Princeton, Indiana and graduated from Princeton High School in 1949. He received his undergraduate degree in 1962 and earned his MBA in 1973 from The University of Evansville. Richard retired from American General Finance after 42 years in Administration and Management. Richard loved playing tennis, handball, and basketball with friends into his 70’s. He also enjoyed teaching undergraduate business classes at ISUE (USI) for several semesters. He was on active duty in the U.S. Army from 1952 – 1954 serving in Trieste, Italy, near the Yugoslavia border.
Richard is survived by his sons, Stephen R. (Tacy) Slade, of Austin, Texas, and John F. (Mary) Slade of St Charles, Illinois; grandchildren Clayton (Heidi) Slade, Rachel (Benjamin) Reynolds, and James Slade, of Texas, Andrew Slade and Christine (Aleksandar) Milosevic, of Illinois; and two great-grandsons; his sister, Patricia (Jerry) Frohbieter; brother, William (Raquel) Slade; and sister Karen (Boyd) Davis, of Indiana.
Richard is preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Mary Ann Slade (Powell); parents and his brother and sister-in-law James Jr. and Marion Slade, of Indiana.
Friends may visit Boone Funeral Home East Chapel, 5330 Washington Ave., Evansville, Indiana from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Sunday, June 7, 2020, with a Memorial Service starting at 6:00 p.m. with Father Bernie Etienne officiating.
Private family burial service will be held Monday, June 8, 2020, 9:30 a.m. at St. Joseph Cemetery, Princeton, Indiana.
