Richard Myers, Child of God, follower of Jesus Christ, faithfully finished his race on Wednesday, May 17, 2023. He is remembered as a gentle-spirited servant, and a model of decency, humility, and kindness.
Dick was born November 8th, 1929 in Plainville, IN to Dr. B.E. and Eva Barnes Myers. He graduated from Plainville High School in 1947. He farmed with family and operated the Knotty Pine Cafe in Plainville, IN until joining the U.S. Air Force in 1950, proudly serving as an airplane mechanic during the Korean War.
He later moved to Newburgh, IN and was employed by George Koch Sons in Evansville and as Maintenance Supervisor at Capco Pipe Company, retiring in 1994.
Dick loved working with his hands and shortly after his first retirement he picked up his tools and worked in facilities maintenance for Crossroads Christian Church for 15 years, retiring again in 2009 at 80 years of age.
He enjoyed overseas Christian mission work, serving in Ukraine, Tajikistan, and Tunisia. He had a special place in his heart for Sonlight Academy in Portde-Paix, Haiti and traveled there 15 times to serve.
On November 3, 2018, he was privileged to travel on the Honor Flight from Evansville, IN to Washington D.C.
His memory is cherished by his entire family, especially his wife of 42 years, Donna. He was the father to Nancy Myers-Bradley (B.J.) and Paul R. Myers (Sharon). Stepfather to Blaine Cummings, Eric Cummings (Lynda), Anne Cummings (Darla), and Ryan Cummings. He was blessed with five grandchildren and several great grands as well as several nieces and nephews.
Dick was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Max and Robert, and grandson Alex.
Visitation with family will be held at Crossroads Christian Church Chapel, 10800 Lincoln Ave, Newburgh, IN 47630, on June 1, 2023 at 6:00 PM with Reflections and Remembrance Service at 6:30 PM.
