Rita “Gail” (Douglas) Duncan, age 71, of Evansville, IN, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 9, 2024, at The Village at Holiday Healthcare surrounded by her family.
Gail was born September 1, 1953, in Hartford, KY, to the late Herbert C. and Stella Faye (Snodgrass) Douglas. She graduated from Ohio County High School and was a faithful member of Northwest Church of Christ. Gail was very artistic and loved painting, arranging flowers, doing all kinds of crafts, and decorating for the holidays, especially Halloween and Christmas.
Gail was a dedicated wife, mother, and grandmother. For over 30 years, she helped support and operate a Dairy Queen and Mr. Gatti’s Pizza in Clinton, IN. Gail loved with all her heart, and she never met a stranger. She enjoyed being involved in her children’s activities and giving back to the community. Gail received the Sam Walton Business Leader Award in 1999, along with her husband, Phil.
Gail leaves behind to cherish many memories, her daughter Leslie Humphrey (Chris) of Evansville, IN; son, Phillip A. Duncan of Surprise, AZ; grandsons, Cooper Humphrey and Jackson Humphrey; sister, Diane Barnett; sisters-in-law, Phyllis Ashburn (Greg) and Fran Blacklock (Mike); as well as many nieces and nephews.
Aside from her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 46 years, Phillip M. Duncan; and sister, Carolyn Rhineburger.
Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Friday, October 11, 2024, at Boone Funeral Home East Chapel – A Family Tradition Funeral Home, 5330 Washington Avenue with Mike Thomas officiating. Burial will be in Render Cemetery, Beaver Dam, KY.
Friends may visit from 10:00 a.m. until service time, Friday, October 11, 2024, at Boone Funeral Home East Chapel.
