Robert Meckel Obituary

Robert C. Meckel, 80, of Newburgh, died at 4:40 p.m. Thursday at St. Mary’s Medical Center.

He and his wife of 53 years, Evelyn (DeShazor), were co-owners of Manpower Inc. of Evansville. He was the firm’s chief executive officer and former president.

He was a member of First Christian Church and played trombone in dance bands.

Also surviving are a daughter, Robin Susanne Meckel Oschman of Newburgh; his mother, Verdie Meckel of Evansville; two sisters, Earlene Hunter of Washington, Pa., and Virginia Bradenstein of Indianapolis; and a grandchild, Christina Michelle Oschman.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Boone Funeral Home - East Chapel, 5330 Washington Ave., the Rev. Joseph Hunter and Michael Claypool officiating, with entombment in Sunset Memorial Park Cemetery.

Friends may call from 1 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
