Robert "Bob" Morton

Robert "Bob" Morton, age 89, of Slaughters, KY, passed away at 9:37 a.m. on Thursday, November 17, 2022, at Lucy Smith King Hospice in Henderson, KY. 

Bob was born August 20, 1933, in Evansville, IN, to Stanley Morton and Ruth Morton Rhoades. He graduated from Central High School in 1951, and attended Indiana University and the University of Evansville. Bob was a Veteran of the United States Army and was stationed in the Bavarian Alps in Germany while he served from 1953-1955. He worked as a Counselor for St. Mary’s Hospital for 14 years, which led him to become a coproprietor of Full Measures Counseling Service for six years. Bob had a true passion in helping people from all walks of life and was a friend to Bill W. for 55 years. 

Bob was avid golfer. He loved horse racing and was most fond of harness racing. Bob was an avid reader, loved to cook and found tremendous joy when spending time with his family and his dog, Honey.  

Bob is survived by his life partner for over 30 years, Joan Bernardin; his three children, Blake Morton (Jeanne), Karen Lang (Richard), Byron Morton (Anne); and grandchildren, Brandon, Julia, Madeleine, JT, Erin, Michael, Kevin, Sean, Michael, and Dan; 4 great grandchildren, and sister, Elizabeth Martin. 

Bob is preceded in death by his parents, Stanley Morton and Ruth Morton Rhoades, and brother, Byron Morton. 

A celebration of life will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, December 3, 2022, at Boone Funeral Home East Chapel – A Family Tradition Funeral Home, 5330 Washington Avenue, Evansville with Reverend Karen Lang officiating. The American Legion Kapperman Post 44 will perform full military rites. Burial will be private. 

Friends may visit from 1:00 p.m. until service time, Saturday, December 3, 2022, at Boone Funeral Home East Chapel.
