Robert "Bob" J. Simmons

Robert J. “Bob” Simmons, age 89, of Evansville, IN, passed away at 9:41 a.m. on Tuesday, April 9, 2024, at Deaconess Gateway.

Bob was born November 23, 1934, in Marion, IL, to the late Chester Simmons and Zella Norman. He graduated from Marion High School in 1952. Bob was a Systems Programmer for American General Finance, where he retired in 1986. He served in the United States Army. Bob was a lifelong member of Central United Methodist Church. Bob enjoyed bowling in leagues around town, a lifelong hobby of his since 1960.

Bob is survived by his niece, Rebecca “Becky” Brewer; nephews, Jeff Cravens, Greg Cravens, John Cravens, Tom Cravens, Ron Simmons and Rick Smith.

Bob is preceded in death by his parents; beloved wife of 43 years, Gloria (Cravens) Simmons; niece, Patricia Moody and Rita Douglas; and brother, Jack Simmons.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, April 13, 2024, at Boone Funeral Home East Chapel – A Family Tradition Funeral Home, 5330 Washington Avenue, Evansville, with Nancy Reid officiating. Entombment will be in Oak Hill Mausoleum.

Friends may visit from 9 a.m. until time of service, Saturday, April 13, 2024, at Boone Funeral Home East.
