Robert Royce "Skip" Kaster

Robert Royce “Skip” Kaster, age 84, of Evansville, IN, passed away at 1:15 p.m. on Monday, July 26, 2021, at St. Vincent Hospital.

Skip was born October 22, 1936, in Union County, IA, to Averil and Opel (Fisher) Kaster. He earned his Associates Degree from Indian Hills Community College. Skip was an active member of Epworth United Methodist Church. He worked for 23 years for Kinney Shoes where he started as Assistant Manager before working his way up to Divisional Manager Southwest Region, and he retired as the Assistant to the Vice President of Store Operations from Shoe Carnival in 2004 after 17 years of service. He enjoyed gardening, playing golf, the St. Louis Cardinals, and his occasional cigar with good conversation. Skip especially loved his children, grandchildren, family, and friends.

Skip is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Darlene (Webber) Kaster, daughter, Angela Spotila (Tim); son, Robert Kaster, Jr. (Mary); grandchildren, Megan Spotila, Samantha Spotila, and Wyatt Kaster; and many nieces and nephews.

Skip is preceded in death by his parents, Averil and Opel Kaster; and siblings, Dwight Kaster, Wanda Brunner, and June Pfannebecker.  

A Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, August 5, 2021, at Epworth United Methodist Church with Pastor Daniel Barr officiating. A Live Stream will be available beginning twenty minutes prior to the service time.
