Robert Stanton “Stan” Rueger, age 78, of Evansville, IN passed away on Monday, June 10, 2024, at St. Vincent’s Hospital.
Stan was born June 26, 1945, in Evansville, IN, to the late Herman John and Edith (Murphy) Rueger. He was a member of the “Order of the Arrow”-an Eagle Scout. Stan was a graduate of North High School, class of 1963. He joined the Navy and served in Oakland, California until he was issued a medical discharge. Stan returned to Evansville where he met and married his wife of 57 years. They had two sons together, Jon Michael Rueger, and James Andrew Rueger.
Stan worked for Alcoa for 28 years as well as working successfully in sales in his later years. He was an avid reader and a great cook. Stan was always learning and endlessly curious about the world.
Stan is survived by his wife Kathie, his son, James and his wife Tara and their three sons, Miles, Landon, and Jacob. He is also survived by his sister, Nancy Lively and a nephew, Grant Lively and a niece, Lesley Dolan.
Stan was also a “stepfather” of sorts to Shannon Harvey Nagle who he always thought of as part of the family.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, June 15, 2024, at Boone Funeral Home East Chapel – A Family Tradition Funeral Home, 5330 Washington Avenue. Burial will be private.
Friends may visit from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m., Saturday, June 15, 2024, at Boone Funeral Home East Chapel.
