Ronald J. Saulman, 63, of Evansville, died Sunday, June 4, 2000, at St. Mary’s Medical Center of respiratory failure.
He retired in 1991 from the Evansville Fire Department after 32 years, serving 15 years as captain, four years as union president and four years as district vice president.
He helped modify the Knight Township Volunteer Fire Department and was elected to two terms as Knight Township trustee. He also was past president of Inland Marina Yacht Club and Inland Slip Owners Association.
He was a Navy veteran and a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Charles Denby Post 2953.
Surviving are his wife, Diana (Beauchamp); a daughter, Laura Sexton-McCloskey of Evansville; his mother, Pearl Saulman of Evansville; a brother-in-law, Paul Hotz of Evansville, with whom he was raised; and two grandchildren, Kaleb and Kelsey McCloskey.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Boone Funeral Home East Chapel, Todd Bussey officiating, with burial in Park Lawn Cemetery, with Fire. Department honor guard rites.
