Rosemary F. (Finn) Neumann, age 95, of St. Petersburg, FL, formerly of Evansville, IN passed away on Sunday, September 8, 2024, at Patrick Manor.
Rosemary was born April 25, 1929, in Indianapolis, IN, to Thomas Marvin and Fannie (Parnell) Finn. She was orphaned during the depression and was raised by Walter and Ethel Strickler of Danville, IN. She graduated from Danville High School, where she played in the marching band. Rosemary was a clergy wife in the Episcopal church for 25 years. She worked actively in the church during that time. Rosemary was a pre-school Sunday school teacher, directed many churches bazaar’s and was a wonderful friend to many church members. She raised her five children with much encouragement, support and love, and gave the same to her grandchildren. Rosemary was a Girl Scout Leader and took her cadet troop to Myrtle Beach, SC. Rosemary made friends easily, never meeting a stranger. She enjoyed crafts, working in her flower garden, and decorating her home for the holidays. She enjoyed playing basketball. Rosemary worked security for the University of Kentucky and at the Kentucky Derby, where she wore her security uniform proudly and blew her whistle at the traffic. She loved a good party and loved her wine and coffee.
Rosemary is survived by her first husband, Charles Herbert Sykes; children, George Sykes (Kandy), Lindy Deusner (Dennis); Susan Smith (Ed); Charles Robyn Sykes (Rhoda) and Brian Sykes (Brad); grandchildren, Jennifer Brandt, Christy Adkins, Elizabeth Webster, Elissa Deusner, John Sykes and Westley Smith; several great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Rosemary is preceded in death by her foster parents, Walter and Ethel Strickler; birth parents, Thomas and Fannie Finn; second husband, Edwin Neumann; infant daughter, Sally Jo; grandson, Cody James Smith; and siblings, Elsie Finn Norton, Marvin Haynes, Thomas Haynes and Elizabeth Crider.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, September 14, 2024, at Good Shepherd Catholic Church, 2301 N. Stockwell Road, with Father Zach Etienne officiating. Burial will be in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.
Friends may visit from 10:00 a.m. until service time, Saturday, September 14, 2024, at Good Shepherd Catholic Church.
