Ruth Sandefur

Ruth Sandefur, age 81, of Newburgh, IN, passed away at 2:25 p.m. on Saturday, May 6, 2023, at Deaconess Midtown Hospital.

Ruth was born April 4, 1942, in Evansville, IN, to Perry and Mary (Blandford) Decamps. She graduated from Mt. Vernon High School and was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Newburgh. Ruth retired from Gateway Hospital, where she worked in the Dietary Department. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother, who was a homemaker that devoted her life to nurturing her family. Ruth’s biggest joy in life was her daughters. She enjoyed spending time with family and attending family reunions, scrapbooking and making photo albums.

Ruth is survived by her loving husband of 39 years, William Sandefur; daughters, Michelle Roy (Michael) and Cheryl Kolb (Steve); sons, Doug Sandefur and Michael Sandefur; sisters, Sharon Waits and Linda McCormick (Basil); brothers, Harold Decamps (Mary) and James Decamps (Sharon); grandchildren, Alison Canaan (Matt), Danielle Day, Brian Day (Kris),  Lucas Roy (Bailey), Michael Roy Jr., Heather Lowery (Jackie), Heath Roy (Heather), Malarie Young (Ethan), Erik Kolb (Brittany) and Kollin Kolb; great grandchildren, Rylee, Brianna, Chelci, Elah and Elias Canaan, Trinity and Gemma Davenport, Owen and Wyatt Young, Jax and Emily Lowery and Bayne and Braxton Roy; and many nieces and nephews.

Ruth is preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Carolyn Kietel and Donna Wigand (Chuck); and brother Marion Small.

Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Thursday, May 11, 2023, at Boone Funeral Home East Chapel – A Family Tradition Funeral Home, 5330 Washington Avenue with Father Dusty Burns officiating. Burial will be in Park Lawn Cemetery.

Friends may visit from 11:00 a.m. until service time, Thursday, May 11, 2023, at Boone Funeral Home East Chapel.
