Samuel "Sam" Eugene Kennada, age 81, of Evansville, IN, passed away Tuesday, June 10, 2025, at Heart to Heart Hospice House.
Samuel was born September 20, 1943, in Evansville, IN, to Murray and Virble (Shrader) Kennada. He graduated from Central High School in 1962. Samuel proudly served his country in the United States Army during Vietnam. He retired from the Smelting and Finishing Department at Alcoa in 2007 after 27 years. Samuel was a member of The Assembly Church. Samuel was a member of the VFW Post 1114 and the American Legion Post 265. He was an Alum on the 10th Honor Flight to Washington, D.C. in October 2024. Samuel loved fishing and always caught the most and biggest fish. He also enjoyed grilling, hosting fish fry’s, hunting, and telling stories. Samuel loved to travel to Alaska, Arizona, Florida, and South Dakota, just to name a few. He was a Christian man who loved the Lord and was a loving husband, father and Pa.
Samuel is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Shirley (Coe) Kennada; daughters, Kim Chagle (Randy) and Karen Helms (Chip); brother, Perry Kennada (Linda); grandchildren, Kelsey Chagle, Trevor Chagle, Kennedy Helms, Lauren Helms, and Warren Helms; brother in law, Gary Coe (Purrisima); and eleven nieces and ten nephews.
Samuel is preceded in death by his son, Travis Kennada; parents, Murray and Virble Kennada; sisters, Betty Thiry, Peggy Utley, Nora Jane Burkhardt, and Dorothy Owens; and brothers, Murray Kennada and James Kennada.
The family would like to express a sincere Thank You to the staff at Heart to Heart Hospice and the doctors and nurses at Deaconess Gateway Hospital.
Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, June 14, 2025, at Boone Funeral Home East Chapel – A Family Tradition Funeral Home, 5330 Washington Avenue with Pastor Jeff Keenan officiating. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery where the American Legion Kapperman Post #44 will render military rites.
Friends may visit from 10:00 a.m. until service time, Saturday, June 14, 2025, at Boone Funeral Home East Chapel.
